The response to Sita Ramam from the Tamil audience is an unforgettable experience: Director Hanu Raghavapudi

Vyjayanthi Movies, Swapna cinema’s latest collaboration, Sita Ramam, which was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, has received love from the audiences across the country. Within six days of its release, the film has amassed over forty crores. With Sita Ramam becoming a critical and commercial success, a success meet was held at a private hotel in Chennai. The event was attended by actor Dulquer Salmaan, director Hanu Raghavapudi, composer Vishal Chandrasekhar, and GK Tamil Kumaran of Lyca Productions, who distributed the film in Tamil.

At the event, Dulquer said, “Just like how the Tamil cinema audience embraced a new attempt like Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, they have done the same for Sita Ramam too. Once again they’ve theiur affinity in embracing novel attempts.” Talking about the shooting experiences, Dulquer equated working with Hanu like it was a war. “The commander was Hanu, whose every order was followed by the entire cast and crew.”

Calling working on Sita Ramam a dream, Dulquer added that right from the time Hanu narrated the script, he knew that the film was an epic romance never told before, and the authenticity of Hanu’s vision came to the fore in the film. “Ram is an unforgettable character in my career. In fact, each character has been played by proficient actors like Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Vennela Kishore, and other top stars from Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali. I have already seen the film four-five times, and every single time, I find the music completely engulfing me. I knew Sita Ramam was best suited for a theatrical experience,” said Dulquer.

Delving into their promotional strategies for Sita Ramam, Dulquer shared, “In fact, when Hanu was narrating the script, I was skeptical thinking of how the present audience would relate to the age of letter-writing. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of people tell me that they have restarted the habit after watching the film. They are sending me screenshots of hand-written letters. I am elated with such responses. Now, we feel we should have promoted the film by asking people to write hand-written letters. Nevertheless, the unexpected success of Sita Ramam is all thanks to the audience, and I must acknowledge it here.”

Talking at the event, Hanu said, “The love that the Tamil audience gave Sita Ramam is unforgettable. Both me and composer Vishal chandrasekhar couldn’t attend the promotional activities in Chennai because of the last-minute work on the film, and we express our apologies about it. The Tamil audience once again proved that they will support quality content. The worldwide success of the film comes from the love you have all showered on the film. Since this film happens across different landscapes and cultures, we faced a lot of struggles in making Sita Ramam a film that can be enjoyed by all.” The filmmaker also spoke about working in trying conditions like nights in Kashmir, and thanked his actors, technical team, and the crew for giving it their all. “It was almost like we all worked on a war-time footing, and I must thank all of them for their unwavering support.”

Composer Vishal Chandrasekhar said, “Hanu introduced me in Telugu, and I have worked with him in three films so far. With Sita Ramam, he has given me an identity in Telugu cinema all over again. I must thank him in this occasion. A lot of the themes and background scores I have composed for the film are being shared on social media, and I am being showered with a lot of praise for the same. This kind of response is new to me, and I am happily receiving such love. It gives me the push to work diligently for all my projects. After Sita Ramam, I have also developed the wish to work on more big-budget films.”

Tamil Kumaran said, “We are proud to be associated with a film like Sita Ramam. Our recent track record with the films we’ve distributed like Pushpa, RRR, Don is stellar and with Sita Ramam joining this list, we have reached yet another milestone. I was told that the audience emotionally connected with the film even being moved to tears. The magnitude of Sita Ramam’s success wasn’t expected, and we are proud to have worked with team Sita Ramam.”
