The wait is over: Malaikottai Vaaliban’s long-anticipated teaser is out!

A glimpse of ace director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Mohanlal starrer is enough to give an adrenaline rush to ardent fans

Ending the wait of movie lovers, the first glimpse of Mohanlal’s period drama ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban,’ was unveiled in a teaser. This film, marking the maiden collaboration between acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery and Mohanlal, unfolds as a grand Magnum Opus .

Actor Mohanlal adds, “The captain of the ship, Lijo has created a grand spectacle, a glimpse of which the audience will be able to see in this teaser.”

‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ is also Yoodlee films’ first-ever project with Mohanlal. “Lijo Jose Pellissery has not only created a vast canvas but assembled a sterling ensemble cast headlined by the legendary Mohanlal. This is one of our most significant ventures in Malayalam cinema as its theme, grandeur and emotional resonance have undeniable universality. This is why the film will be dubbed and released simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi,” says Siddharth Anand Kumar, Sr. Vice President –of Films & Events at Saregama India Ltd.

‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ is scripted by P S Rafeeque, who has earlier worked with Lijo in movies like ‘Nayakan’ and ‘Amen’. “For me, the process of finalising a theme doesn’t originate from the pressure to create the next big hit; it’s a natural progression. The basic idea of ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ began germinating within me a couple of years ago and then metamorphosed into a comprehensive plot. A writer like Rafeeq expanded that world, and it was only then that we realised Lalettan (Mohanlal) was the perfect fit for that role,” says Lijo Jose Pellissery.

“As a long-time acquaintance of Mohanlal, when I decided to foray into filmmaking, I naturally wanted to have him in the lead role. When a talented director like Lijo joins hands with Mohanlal, we can expect an entertainer that the people will love for sure,” says Shibu Baby John.

Madhu Neelakandan handles the cinematography while the music of the film is by Prashanth Pillai. With Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait , Manoj Moses, Katha Nandi, and Manikandan Achari playing other notable roles, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ will grace the screens on January 25, 2024.
