The film transports viewers back to a nostalgic summer in the 1980s, along the picturesque banks of the river Cauvery in the enchanting districts of Salem and Erode in Tamil Nadu. This heartwarming tale delves into the bond between a determined Son, Maariappan, eager to master the art of cycling, and his Father .
Inspired by the short story “Cycle” penned by the talented Rasi Azhagappan, this film is a poignant exploration of family dynamics and the pursuit of dreams.
Filmmaker Kamalakannan has garnered praise from industry leaders for his innovative approach and distinct style in the realm of filmmaking. Kamalakannan, the director of films like Madhubaanakadai and Vattam, has been honored with prestigious awards throughout his career. In 2012, he was recognized as the Best Debutant Director with a Special Mention at the Aravindan Puraskaram. The following year, he was awarded the title of Best Producer by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writer’s Association. In 2009, he also received the esteemed Best Societal Award from the Coimbatore Rotary Club. His dedication to the art of cinema and his contributions to society have truly set him apart as a visionary in the industry.
Music director Gibran ever popular for his soulful melodies and mesmerising back ground score has composed soulful music for this film. His music reflects the world of the kids and his efforts to recreate the sounds of 80s is heard to be believed.
Santhosh Velumurugan, VR. Ragavan, M. Gnanasekar, Rathish, and Sai Ganesh have been carefully selected to play pivotal roles in this cinematic masterpiece. Renowned child expert Nandakumar, with over 15 years of experience, meticulously trained these young talents for 45 days. Adding to the stellar cast, the talented actor Kaali Venkat shines in a crucial role as the father figure. Prasanna Balachander and Jenson Diwakar, known for their work with Nakkalites, bring depth to their important characters in this film.
